One - Aimee Mann

Wait, let me explain. Aimee Mann is okay. She's one of those artists I can kind of take or leave. But every once in awhile she pops up in a soundtrack, and it seems to work pretty well. This song, for instance, comes from the soundtrack to the 1999 film Magnolia which stars about a billion people. I've been watching some weirder movies recently, like Magnolia (Good, but with a running time of 188 mins.), Synechdoce, NY (Good, felt like 188 mins. but was only 124 mins.), and Black Swan (Not what I hoped for, felt like 1440 mins.). Two of those have Philip Seymour Hoffman in them, who I enjoy. And for whatever reason, when I think of Philip Seymour Hoffman, I think of Paul Giamatti. Not sure why. I digress. Magnolia was good, and this song fit in quite well towards the beginning of the film. Originally done by Harry Nilsson, this song is okay. This version is a little better, in my opinion, but that might only be because I have the association of the film to tack it on to. Hmm. Regardless, here's Aimee Man with her version of the song One featured in the soundtrack to the film Magnolia. -Ian Artwork by Brandon Bird.
