Xmas Time is Here Again - My Morning Jacket

Pardon me, while I rant. I pretty much despise contemporary Christmas music. With the exception of maybe Otis Redding's Merry Christmas Baby, and RUN DMC's Christmas in Hollis, I don't like non-traditional Christmas songs. And for the most part, even when artists I like release covers of Christmas songs that I like, more often than not, I don't care for them. But, working in retail, I don't have a choice as to what kind of Christmas music I hear. And whomever is in charge of picking what music I hear at work seems to have awful taste, especially when it comes to Christmas music. I very rarely hear any classic Christmas songs, and when I do, they are usually remixed or ruined by a pop singer "singing" over it. It's kinda miserable. They started playing Christmas music at work about a week after Halloween, and I wasn't pleased. But, one day when I was folding shirts to soon be unfolded and ruined by cranky housewives, I heard this song. In comparison to what is usually heard at my workplace, this was slow and soft. It was enough of a change to immediately catch me attention. When I got a chance, I looked up who it was, and lo and behold, it was none other than My Morning Jacket; a band that I actually like. Now, I know that there are people out there that are absolute Christmas purists, and they won't care for this song one bit, mostly because it isn't sung by Bing Crosby. But, I happen to like it, so I thought I'd share. Since it's finally December 1st, I thought now would be a somewhat appropriate time to bust out some Christmas tunes. Anytime before this would have been too soon. I hope you enjoy Xmas Time is Here Again by My Morning Jacket. Merry Christmas and all that. -Ian Somehow I include Ottis Redding in the contemporary field. . .
